Reason For Short Cervix - My Wife Is Second Time Pregnant And

My wife is second time pregnant and she is having short cervix at 20 week scan.. last year we had a baby in august 2020 and within 8 month she got pregnant again so just wanted to know that this short cervix arises due to less gap in pregnancy or it might be due to other reason... as on first day doctor said that none of the issue will come as in first preganency we don't face any issue..we had a c section delivery at 38 weeks in last pregnancy.. does keeping the longer gap would have not raised this cervix issue or it can be at anytime regardless of the gap
