Re; Surgical extraction on 21st march
Hi Doctor, I am Sireesha. I have some minor problems with the swtiches. 1. Fine food particles are getting tangled with the suture thread, making it painful and difficult to remove the particles. 2. I still have bleeding and swelling in the oral cavity hence not able chew food. Kindly suggest me what care I can take to improve this condition.

Hello Sireeisha, Please do warm saline rinses atleast 3-4 times daily and after every meal to reduce food lodgement and swelling.
Next Steps

Hi Sireesha It will help if you can rinse gently with moderately warm salt water several times a day . Hold the warm water in the affected area for several minutes , rinse and spit out. Repeat this process as many times a day as possible. This will help to reduce the swelling and also help to disentangle and wash away any food particles. In case there is excess suture material it will have to be trimmed down to the knot. This is best done by your doctor. As in case of any post surgery wound some pain, swelling and bleeding may be normal. However if it increases in intensity and does not subside then it would be advisable to get it checked by your doctor.
