Last two years annual checks my HBA1C was 6.0, 6.2. Now last few days back it is 6.0. I am not and was not taking any medications and careful about what I eat . Of late I am getting hot flashes and body gets heated but no infection and fever . It's hot I have to get my feet dipped in cold water and pour water on my body .Could this be due to sugar and can I take metformin 1 tablet ? This was suggested by my relative a doctor who practices abroad . Have done TSH and it is 0.51. My all other parameters like CBC , lipid, Liver , KFT are normal except Alk phosphates is around 36 I U below normal . Can I start taking metformin 500 one so that the hot flash stops . Thank you

Hi Your symptoms of hot flushes is due to Menopause..It is definitely not due to Diabetes..No need to take Metformin. You can consult your gynaecologist for the hot flushes treatment.
Next Steps
As for HbA1C you are in the prediabetic range. Again you don't need medicine for this. Maintain regular walking and exercise..Diet modification.
