Just clean the scratch site thoroughly,  apply povidone ointment,  complete the booster dose. Rig is not needed.

You have already completed: • 4-dose ID schedule (Aug 2025) • Another 4-dose ID (Nov 2025) • Booster on 17 Feb 2026 (Day 0) • Second booster due 20 Feb 2026 Now on 18 Feb 2026, you had a dog scratch with one drop of blood. This is a Category III exposure (since there was bleeding). However — you are fully vaccinated recently, and you already received a booster just one day before the scratch.
Next Steps
✔ Immediately wash the wound with soap and running water for 15 minutes ✔ Apply povidone iodine ✔ Take the scheduled booster on 20 Feb (do not skip) ✔ No RIG required ✔ No additional extra doses needed If the dog remains healthy for 10 days, risk becomes negligible.
Health Tips
✔ Avoid frequent unnecessary revaccination — excessive dosing is not beneficial ✔ Keep a proper record of all rabies vaccines taken ✔ For future exposures within 3 months of booster, usually no extra dose is needed ✔ Anxiety after dog exposure is common — but your protection level is already strong Medically, you are well protected and do not require RIG or restarting the course. If you want, I can review your entire vaccination timeline in detail and confirm your immunity status step-by-step. You may book an online consultation so we can document everything properly and avoid unnecessary future stress or vaccinations.
