My father received first two doses of Moderna last June in the US. Now he is in India. Which precautionary/booster dose can he take here? What is the protocol? Thanks

Indian government’s policy is to give homologous vaccines i.e. same as the primary vaccine.
Currently there are no guidelines to give precaution doses to people who had taken Covid vaccines other than Covaxin or Covishield.
The irony is
There are enough studies to show that mixing MRNA vaccines like Moderna or Pfizer with vector vaccines like Covishield will yield good results, but if people take a Covishield dose in India as their precaution shot, it will be registered as the first dose of the vaccination sequence, and not the third.
However, nobody is stopping people who have taken Moderna to take Covishield, but it will be recorded as the first dose, and not a booster dose.
So madam this is the situation in India.
We cant go against the government protocol and advance you any thing.
As mentioned above in cowin portal there is no option for mix match vaccine .
Either you wait, or if going abroad then can take there or can go meet COVID vaccine nodal officer of your place for better options or any new guidelines .
Don't listen to anyone if any doctor tells you that you can take this vaccine or that vaccine then tell him or her to write and give on prescription that you have advised it. Because if something happens then you are the one who will suffer .
