My mom has rheumatic joint problem. she is on medication. she stays completely silent and indeferent for some days. suddenly she becomes hyperactive and over works herself, and doesn't sleep at all. she also talks irrelevant and fast during these episodes. she has one such severe episode around 15yrs ago. now the there is significant behavioural change..she is hallucinating and suspects all maids and recklessly keeps the valuables and money..sometimes she even gives lots of money to any unknown or unrelated person. when she is inactive she sleeps while sitting and even while watching t.v. also and doesn't even listen to u. some one has said it's a mood disorder. need help regarding the best course of treatment.

Dear Madam She has to first Consult a Neurosurgeon to rule out structural Rheumatic problems in brain If there are not structural problems, she can continue with evaluation by a Psychiatrist
