How long does an artificial valve in a mitral valve replacement patient work? Does it have any duration after which its time span would cease? What happens or what is the next step in such a patient? Does another open heart surgery is required or are there any alternatives?

We have seen heart valves work more than 30 years...esp. st Jude mechanical valves. It will work as long as you take anticoagulation medicine timely.
Redo heart valve surgery can be done for a choked valve or one affected by degeneration.
Online consultation will be helpful whether this case is pre-op or post-op.
