Doctor has suggested to continue taking progesterone during pregnancy? Is it really necessary?? Isn't her body making progesterone on its own? My wife is in 9th week.

Yes it's needed untill the baby develops placenta . Atleast till 12 to 13 weeks. Baby produces progestone but in case of luteal phase defects. It can make the baby week if not consumed

There would be some reason for start and continuation of progesterone. Bleeding, prior miscarriages, pain, advanced maternal age etc being some of them.
