If there is no family history of thalassemia and if you are not married in relation very unlikely to be a cartier for thalassemia. However if you want to know both of you can have a test called hb electrophoresis to look for thalassemia trait. Ovulation generally happens in the midcycle . So you need to try at least alternate days from day 11 today 18 if you have regular cycles of 28- 32 days. She needs to take folic acid daily to prevent neural tube defects in the baby. Test for rubella Ig G. If it is negative she needs to be va ccinated. If we have taken regular vaccination in childhood we would sll be covered with mmr vaccinr ehich also has rubella
