Potassium level 5.8
Hello,I got my mother routine test done and found her potassium level 5.8.All other parametes are normal along with ECG and stomach ultrasound. We have got her checked by a local physician who asked to stop Telma and give Ln Bloc 10 for BP along with K bind.Plesse suggest best way to reduce her potassium level which was normal till Aug.

Hello. The high level of K in blood could be because of the medicine telma or because of increased intake of K in diet. Telma is a very protective drug and it has many benefits but one disadvantage that it can increase K levels . So whenever we prescribe telma we ask the patients to have a low K diet. That way we can still use the medicine. You can also follow a low K diet and recheck you K levels.
