Postpartum
What are the signs of postpartum depression? I have given birth recently and my failed breastfeeding experience has been quite stressful for my mental health. I have had episodes of crying, guilt, regret and extreme anxiety. I wonder if I need to seek professional help since the feeling is not subsiding. I am afraid my mental health is going to affect my ability to be a good parent. Kimdly suggest some solution.

Postpartum depression is similar to any other form of depression except it presents during postpartum period. Treatment guidelines also are same. However, in view of the breast feeding caution must be taken to prescribe antidepressant least likely to be secreted in breast milk. Other important option is ECT as it is safe and immediate response. Mother can continue breast feeding without worrying about any problem to the baby.
Next Steps
Plan for ECT afer PAC. Antidepressants are second line. CBT also is good option.
