Postpartum depression
Hi doctor, I had given birth to a baby girl 10 months ago but still I feel depressed at times. I hate my life but I love my daughter very much. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks around 4 years back and finally conceived with almost a year of infertility treatment and through iui conception. Even after having a healthy child I still I have miscarriage trauma and at times I keep on thinking about that and feel guilty for my loss. Miscarriage trauma started only after I conceived. Sometimes I feel suicidal. How to overcome this and stay happy. I had not undergone any treatment so far. Thank you

Dear mam I can imagine it must be quite tough for you. Depression after giving birth, which is termed as post partum depression is a common condition.i will strongly advise that you seek help from a psychiatrist in person if you are feeling suicidal and hopeless.feelinh low can affect the care of your baby and can affect the bonding and it will make you feel even more miserable. Mothers who are going through this phase are able to come out of it with right treatment and support. So please consult a psychiatrist in person at the earliest. Meanwhile, please talk to someone, your friend or family about how you are feeling,, get some extra support and help and try and keep yourself engaged. Thanks Regards Dr Ankita Mishra
