Porn induced erectile dysfunction
As the title suggests, i am suffering from PIED where getting erections without watching porn is super difficult or impossible for me. I have realized it now and wish to come out of this problem. i am wondering if counselling can help me do the same. this is impacting my relationship and and having a negative impact on me as well. Also is this even curable ? Will i be able to remove the virtual triggers and make my brain more receptive to natural turn ons ?

Hi Yes, Porn-Induced Erectile Dysfunction (PIED) is curable, and counseling can be highly effective in helping you rewire your brain to respond to natural stimuli instead of virtual triggers. Since excessive porn consumption desensitizes the brain’s reward system, real-life intimacy may not feel as stimulating, leading to difficulty in getting erections without porn. However, with the right strategies, you can reverse this conditioning and regain normal sexual function. Therapy can help by addressing both the psychological and behavioral aspects of PIED. Techniques like gradual porn detox, mindfulness-based practices, cognitive restructuring, and real-life exposure therapy can retrain your brain to respond to natural arousal. Additionally, working through performance anxiety or self-doubt that may have developed due to PIED is crucial. With time, patience, and guided intervention, you can restore natural arousal patterns and improve your relationship. Hi...Please avoid making self diagnosis reading articles online. You can consult a Urologist for a medical diagnosis and seek treatment accordingly. Erectile dysfunction may occur due to various reasons including but not limited to the one you mentioned. Psychotherapy/ Counselling can help if the cause is psychological. Also, please understand that our body and mind exist in totality. It's not that we can change one thing without changing the other. Suppose an adult is consuming too much alcohol, or is having a consistent unhealthy routine, he is under tremendous physical/mental stress for a very long time, or has a history of abuse, trauma and experiencing issues in his close interpersonal relationships now. He may develop erectile dysfunction. Now suppose, there is no such issue or may be some issues, but not anything severe, he may still develop erectile dysfunction if there is some physiological disease involved. In this case the disease may be creating the physical as well as psychological symptoms. So the right path to treatment is first get a proper medical diagnosis and then move ahead with the treatment accordingly.
Next Steps
Consult a Urologist for Medical Diagnosis. Consult a Psychologist for Psychotherapy/Counselling. Psycho-sexual Guidance and Counselling is required.

Hi, It's commendable that you're seeking help for your struggles with Porn-Induced Erectile Dysfunction (PIED). Many individuals experience similar challenges, and counseling can be an effective tool in addressing this issue. A qualified therapist can help you explore the underlying causes of your dependency on pornography, develop healthier perspectives on intimacy, and work on strategies to rewire your brain for natural arousal. While the journey may require patience and dedication, many people successfully overcome PIED and regain their ability to connect intimately without reliance on pornography. This process often involves reducing exposure to virtual triggers, enhancing real-life interactions, and engaging in open communication with your partner. With commitment and the right support, you can work toward restoring a healthy sexual response and improve both your well-being and your relationship.
