Acne or pimples is a common skin condition frequently seen in young individuals during teenage and youth years. This occurs mainly due to the action of hormones on the oil glands in the skin. The draining ducts of the oil glands get blocked and hence they are not able to drain the oil secretion. The oil and cells inside the blocked gland form a perfect environment for the growth of Propionibacterium acnes (the organism responsible for acne). I would advise you to avoid the ointment as of now and to follow the lifestyle changes such as: - Avoid greasy, oily, deep fried, junk food items, also avoid alot of sweets and items such as ghee. Have a low glycemic load diet. - Wash your face regularly with a Ph balanced face wash - Wipe your face with a clean cloth when oil accumulates. - Avoid touching your face regularly. Wash your hands properly before touching the face. - Take a zinc supplementation tablet which has shown to help with acne - Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids which are present in fish has shown to help - Reduce stress(yoga, meditate, sleep) - Exercise regularly If condition persists or worsens visit a dermatologist.
