Pigmentation occurs due to various reasons and the exact cause has to be found out. In addition, some skin types are more prone to developing pigmentation after minor insults to the skin.
Sun protection is important in preventing new lesions as well as avoiding worsening of existing lesions. Sun protection is in the form of dermatologically formulated sunscreens, physical protection (umbrella, mask, cap, etc) as well as consumption of anti-oxidant rich fruits and vegetables.
