Your "zits", could be acne, folliciculitis, seborrheic dermatitis or some other condition. First a definitive diagnosis needs to be made. Acne is probably the most common disorder causing zits on the face. It is also persistent and will require some anti acne medicines. Marks on the face are due to your skin type. When your skin heals it leaves behind marks. If the acne are too deep it can leave scars(holes or bumps) which are permanent marks. I treat my patients initially with medical therapy and then put them on procedures like chemical peel or IPL depending on the response to treatment. Medical therapy would include antibiotic creams or tablets and retinoid creams or tablets or a combination of other medicines like benzoyl peroxide gel. It generally takes 3 to 6 months for the face to completely clear up after which you will need some sort of simple maintainence therapy which you can do at home. Also I advice my patients regarding diet, stress and other factors that may be contributing to their acne. If the marks are very stubborn then anti marks creams can be started after a month of treatment or procedures like chemical peels or IPL will address them. If not the anti pimple medicines itself will take care of the marks. Please visit a dermatologist and get your condition diagnosed and treated appropriately. Take care. Warm regards.
