Calculus or plaque deposit in any area of mouth will create a problem.
As they are permanent retainers they won't remove them, only clean around them.
You need to improve your oral hygiene by brushing twice a day, use mouthwash, warm saline water rinses two to three times a day.
Still have queries then please consult with doctor online or offline for better guidance and treatment options.

Hello,
It’s common to have tartar build up with fixed retainers & you have to maintain a very good hygiene, if you are on fixed retainers. You need to go for scaling & don’t worry retainer won’t be removed for scaling. In the worst case, if it gets loose while scaling, your dentist will fix it back.
Next Steps
Get a scaling done every 6 months & brush twice daily to maintain the best hygiene with fixed retainer.
Hi,
Deposits and calculus are common while wearing fixed retainers.
Get the scaling done at regular intervals and maintain proper oral hygiene from your end.
Don’t worry the retainers won’t be removed.
