A leukoerythroblastic peripheral blood smear refers to the presence of abnormal cells in the peripheral blood . In a normal peripheral blood smear, you would typically see mature red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes), and platelets. However, in certain conditions such as disorders affecting the proliferation of blood cells , the peripheral blood smear may show the presence of immature cells from the bone marrow. The term "leukoerythroblastic" refers to the simultaneous presence of immature white blood cells (leukocytes) and immature red blood cells (erythroblasts) in the peripheral blood smear. The exact diagnosis need further evaluation including bone marrow aspiration/ biopsy. Can you please give detailed history of your father , including age , any other symptoms like bone pain , abdominal pain , reason for you people to visit hospital . Any other blood investigations done including creatinine, SR calcium.

Hi My name is Thejeswar. Iam a medical and Hematooncologist. Looking like your father is suffering from anemia. Most common causes are Nutritional, blood loss and May be due defect in the synthesis in marrow. Leucine-erythroblastic picture is mainly seen in the defective marrow synthesis with Myeloid series most commonly seen with increased age.
Next Steps
Share peripheral smear report. Get Medical & Hematooncologist or clinical Hematologist opinion. Need to rule out other causes.
