Painful red sores
Very painful red sores on the root of mouth. Maybe cold sore (herpes simplex) outbreak? Not sure. I have had cold sores in the past but these look somewhat different, (not sexually active)

Common causes of mouth roof sore are folate and vitamin B12 deficiency, smoking, tobacco abuse, low immunity, viral/bacterial infections (such as Oral herpes, sinus infection ), stress and hormonal changes.
