Hi, I understand how distressing these thoughts can be, especially when you're trying to focus on your studies. It’s normal to have doubts and questions about how we perceive things, but try to remember that your brain is capable of processing faces and conversations quite accurately most of the time. When someone is talking to you, it’s natural to look at their eyes or mouth, as this helps you understand their emotions and speech better. You don’t need to worry about seeing everything perfectly or doubting your perception constantly; these thoughts are common in anxiety or overthinking. To help yourself concentrate, take deep breaths, set small study goals, and give yourself short breaks. If these worries persist and interfere with your daily life, consider talking to a counselor or mental health professional who can guide you through managing these thoughts. Remember, it’s okay to seek help, and your focus on exams is commendable.

It’s okay to have these thoughts, a lot of people do. Many people wonder where to look during a conversation, eyes or mouth, and it’s totally normal. These thoughts are just your mind trying to find control. Try to bring your focus back to the present, especially during exams. If it keeps troubling you, speaking with a psychologist can really help ease the worry.

Hi, I understand, what you’ are experiencing is a common form of anxiety where your brain gets stuck on a specific thought—like whether you should look at someone’s eyes or mouth while talking—and it starts to feel very important and disturbing. The truth is, there’s no perfect or correct way to look at someone’s face during a conversation; people naturally shift their gaze between the eyes, mouth, and other parts of the face, and that’s completely normal. Your brain is trying to find certainty where it doesn’t need to, which is why the thought feels haunting. This kind of obsessive doubt often shows up when you’re stressed, like during exam time. The more you try to “fix” the thought, the more power it gains. Instead, try to gently accept the thought without fighting it, remind yourself it’s just anxiety—not a real problem—and refocus on your studies, even if it feels hard at first. With practice and self-kindness, this thought will lose its power. If it continues to bother you, speaking to a counselor can really help, as this is very treatable. Counselling can help by giving you practical tools to manage anxious thoughts, reduce overthinking, and regain focus so your mind feels calmer and more in control, equipped with these tools like thought-challenging to break mental loops, mindfulness to stay grounded, exposure techniques to reduce fear of the thought, and relaxation exercises like deep breathing to calm your nervous system.

There is no strict rule. Most people naturally look at the eyes during a conversation because it helps us understand emotions and connection. Sometimes, especially when someone is speaking softly or you want to understand their words better, your eyes may shift to their mouth. So it’s completely normal to: Look at someone’s eyes when listening.

Hi Its quite normal to have these thoughts especially during exams. In any conversation, the most important part is listening, to make the conversation interesting and intelligent. When it comes to where should we see, when we have good listening skills or if the topic is of ur interest, automatically you will see the eyes of the person. If the conversation is not of ur interest, your mind will tend to wander around n so ur eyes too. When it comes to studies, imagine yourself that you are putting these thoughts in a box and keeping it aside, so that your brain/mind is blank and you can focus on your studies.. If these random thoughts makes you feel stressed, make sure you contact a counsellor for the same. You can contact me on eight three six eight zero five three seven one zero

You can move your gaze in a reversed triangle form from left eye to right eye then to mouth and again repeat....so it becomes a practise and it helps you to attentively listen to what the speaker is saying.... whenever you are anxious focus on breathing.
