Hello! I am sorry that you had to undergo such distress. Yes, smoking has many deleterious effects on our bodies and there are ways to help you quit that habit. I see that you are a 24yr old male and already on medication for hypertension. This puts you at higher risk for future cardiac events and therefore more concern to stop smoking. Regarding your query about cannabis being able to cause such symptoms, well let me tell you that burning and inhaling any hydrocarbon will have harmful effects on your body. Cannabis can cause various psychological phenomenon in susceptible individuals. However, once you stop/quit the use, the psychological effects should wear away. Your current dysphoria needs further careful evaluation before you can start using any other medications. I suggest you visit a psychiatrist and get a thorough evaluation done. I wish you good health!

There is misleading and ill informed propaganda in favor of 'weed'/marijuana/ganja. The herb as such may have medicinal properties(like most herbs do) if the active ingredients are extracted in a scientific manner and then consumed as medicine, under a doctor's prescription and guidance, but taken as such it is definitely harmful to the user. Anyway a single use of the 'weed' is most unlikely to cause any permanent damage to the brain. It must have triggered a predisposed condition in you; it appears to have pushed you into depression. Please do not worry, you will soon get over it. Please meet a psychiatrist in person. He will help you manage the problem. In future please keep away from all drug abusers, for your own good. Please be selective about who you make close friends with. If you move with people who have good habits, you will develop good habits; otherwise you know how bad it could be.
