Not eating at all
My baby boy who is gonna be one year in one week has just stopped eating completely.. He is not eating anything, even his favourite fruit. He is been teething rapidly from last 4 or 5 days and he has stopped eating from past 7 days.. He is completely on BM.. We are so worried. We took him to the doctor and the doc said it's pretty normal. How can not eating or even not drinking water be normal? But the baby is active and normal otherwise.. Can a 11 months old baby be on only BM for almost 7 days without eating anything? He just holds the food in his mouth for more than even 15 to 20 minutes, when we try to make him swallow, he cries.. plz guide us what to do or is this normal during teething??

Hi After going through your boy's history, it seems to have few possibilities. It can be normal for this age, it may be due to anemia[low Hb] of infancy, sometimes oral ulcers can be the cause. Try to avoid routine, give different foods with different colour , shape. Check also for any fever, cold, cough.
Next Steps
give iron rich food like jaggery in food, mango fruit.

It's understandable you're worried when your baby stops eating, especially for so long. While teething can definitely affect appetite, the concern about him not drinking water and holding food without swallowing is significant. Since the doctor said it's 'pretty normal,' and he's otherwise active, that's reassuring

Teething can be a painful experience for many kids. Do check for any oral ulcers. Give Syp calpol/ paracetamol morning and evening for teething pain. Try for 1-2 days - teething pain is often relieved by this. Also children find it helpful to chew on chilled teething toys - do check for safe ones. An alternative to it could be offering chewable foods like roti bites or even chilled soft bits of fruits. Chewing alleviates pain
Next Steps
Try chewable foods. Fruit bits can be chilled. Teething toys made of soft silicone can be tried, they can even be chilled. If buying teething toys avoid ones filled with liquid and they should have no loose components in them. Oral paracetamol once or twice daily is also very helpful
