If there's no major cosmetic deformity due to shift of bone fragments, & no cut on surface skin, surgery is unlikely. If the swelling is hiding a fracture/ deformity could wait for a week for reasessment & take a call on intervention.
A delay by more than 2 weeks makes surgery difficult because of ossification.
