For the past week or more I have had noise in my left ear that sounds like when you put a seashell to your ear. It is not piercing or painful. Been to doctors twice and they have told me it is has to do with the fluid in the back ear canal. There is no wax. Can you please tell me how i can get rid of this noise

Noise in the ear is called tinnitus. Tinnitus in ur age group (65yr) is mostly because of improper firing rate of hearing nerve - it's age related hearing loss associated. It may be handled with hearing aids or tinnitus maskers.
If it was due to fluid behind ear drum as stated which is very unlikely in ur age (except for nasopharyngeal carcinomas) it can be dealt with grommet insertions
