The pain can be due to high points on the cap which can be reduced to lower the pain or deep filling requiring root canal treatment.
You need to get an x-ray done by the dentist to see if the filling is deep.

Probably a root canal is required on that Tooth as the filling may have been too deep.. deep fillings that are too close to the nerve give the tooth pain which can only be temporarily suppressed with painkillers..
