Was there any injury or jerk.. There may be a local strain around Ankle joint which may be causing pain and swelling..

It would be better to get one X ray of Ankle joint to rule out any bony cause for pain. She may start with Ice fomentation, take analgesic and anti inflammatory medicine..
Health Tips
Keep the limb elevated over pillow. Apply crepe bandage for support, avoid walking and standing for a long time..
