Hi. My baby bunnies (27 da ys old) having started experimenting on hays, fruits and veggies along with mother's milk. But the problem is the mother is NOT giving milk anymore. :( She is sitting tight and not allowing the babies. Buy I still manage to get them to have milk once a day. What the main problem is they are not having cecotropes which I read is a very essential thing for them. My buns are New Zealand Whites. I even tried to force some in. But with no success. Is it absolutely necessary to get them to have cecotropes?

Usually offsprings have to be separated from mother by 5th or 6th week age and since your bunnies are already 27 days and have started feeding on their own kindly shift them to a different cage and since they have grown older thts why mother is not nursing them. Just shift thm as of now and then they will start behaving normally if not then you can consult a vet. Avoid force feeding.

bunnies when they start eating on thier own then they will start eating there cocotropes
so dont worry
the rabbits know when to eat them they will start eating them once they need to digest more fibers
so unless they are passing loose motion do not worry
are they passing fecal pellets then don't worry
