U can go far guniea pigs, rabbits, hamster like that because its very easy for you to maintain them and at the same time they are very attractive and keep your 9 year old child very much engaged and won't be boring at all for ur child.

As per your query about pet birds vaccination i would like to say that caged Birds don't need routine vaccine. In India pet birds are mostly raised without vaccination.only one vaccine Polyomavirus is in use for pet birds. For our lonely child I would suggest dog as safe pet like Labrador and golden retriever because friendship with dog is quite easy ,your child can spent good time with dog..
Next Steps
Go for Dog as a pet if you are thinking for safe pets for home and child..

You can consider a Dog or cat if you want a companion for your child..Birds also you can consider ..but for companionship I suggests a Dog or a cat..Petcare needs your time and you should spend money on their wellbeing and its a commitment like raising a kids..if you are ok with that you can welcome your bundle of Joy..best wishes:)
