Hi doctor,
My 1.5 month girl baby suddenly stopped pooping 24-25 days ago. She has passed gas and urine is normal.
In between times, my mom helped her in poop three times with the help of mustard oil which is a homely process.
But it is not a normal process. The doctor prescribed vitazyme and colic aid drop daily for 10 days. Will it help her to start poop normally ? Please guide.
We are very stressed about this.

A 1.5-month-old girl passing stool only 3 times in 25 days is definitely concerning and needs a careful evaluation.
Important Points:
Breastfed babies can sometimes pass stool less frequently (even once every few days), but 25 days with only 3 stools is unusually infrequent.
Formula-fed babies are more prone to constipation than breastfed babies.
Constipation in a baby this age needs urgent assessment to rule out conditions like Hirschsprung's disease, hypothyroidism, anatomical issues, or functional constipation.
Questions for You:
Is the baby feeding well (breastfeeding or formula)?
Passing urine normally?
Any vomiting, especially green (bilious) vomit?
Abdominal distension (swelling)?
Stools, when passed, are hard pellets or normal in consistency?
Any delayed passage of meconium at birth (first stool after birth)?
What To Do:
If the baby has abdominal distension, vomiting, or poor feeding – see a doctor immediately (emergency).
If feeding is normal and the baby is otherwise well, but stool frequency is very low – see a pediatrician to rule out other causes.
Do not give over-the-counter laxatives or home remedies.

If the baby is not passing stool for such a long time, it’s not normal. Often formula fed baby are constipated.
Next Steps
A stool softener can be added, offer plain water after feeds to help hydration. If stool is hard, painful defaecation, a glycerin suppository is helpful
