Not required. Symptoms would have appeared within 2 months of the infected bite. You must have developed antibodies by now.

It would be advisable to go to a general physician to enquire more about vaccine. If you are still worried about it, do understand that it has been a long time and you are safe right now.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated in an article written as late as on 20 September 2023 on its website that the incubation period for rabies (the potentially fatal disease that can develop rarely after a dogbite) is typically 2–3 months but may vary from 1 week to 1 year, depending on factors such as the location of virus entry and the viral load. You had a dogbite some 5 years ago, that too from one that, as per its handler, was vaccinated. With these facts available, is there any logic in your worrying about the old dogbite now? Please try your best to be logical and reasonable. If you fail in that, please consult a psychologist to get guided on disorders like illness anxiety disorder.

According to my hunch you are feeling anxiety regarding this , first of all visit doctor and clear your doubt about this , if you still feel anxiety in that case go for counselling.

I want to reassure you that if the dog bite incident occurred in 2018, and you haven't experienced any symptoms so far, it's highly unlikely for rabies to develop. The incubation period for rabies typically passes within a few weeks to a few months. Given that significant time has passed without any symptoms, there is no need to worry about rabies at this point. However, if your concerns persist, it's always wise to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and further reassurance.
