I have migraine for the past 5-6 years but I came to know that it is a migraine 3 years back only. When I was under migraine medication I got fissures and acid reflux. Doctors suggested MRI, ultrasound and endoscopy and all the reports were clear. Later on I had a cycle of a few months I got migraine attacks and followed by fissures attack and the cycle continues for 1.5 years. Now from the last 4 months I am suffering from both migraine and stomach pain( initially started like fissures but now only stomach pain) , if I eat I am getting stomach pain, if I skip I am getting a headache. Along with these I am having severe vomiting sensations. I am under homeo medication but I am unable to cope up with the situation. What should I do now?

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
Your case has been allotted to me.
I understand your concern. The pattern you described, where migraine and gastric issues occur in cycles, is quite common. Many people with migraine have associated gastric sensitivity known as migraine-gut axis dysfunction. During migraine phases, stomach motility slows down, leading to acidity, nausea, and even fissures due to constipation, and when the gut flares up, it can in turn trigger headaches again.
â Advices
Eat small frequent light meals every 3 to 4 hours, never stay completely empty.
Avoid coffee, citrus, deep fried food, chocolates and late night meals.
Keep regular sleep and hydration. Stress and irregular meals worsen both migraine and acidity.
What to Monitor
Any particular food or time pattern triggering both stomach pain and headache.
Frequency of nausea and vomiting sensation.
Management
You can start with
⢠Tablet Pan D once daily before breakfast for 10 days to settle gastric irritation.
⢠Tablet Naproxen 250 mg as needed at the start of a migraine attack (if no acidity at that time).
⢠Vitamin B complex once daily to improve nerve function and appetite.
Continue your homeopathic medicines only if they are not increasing acidity. If pain persists, a gastroenterology consultation is advised to rule out functional dyspepsia or reflux related gastritis.
When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
If vomiting becomes persistent or contains blood.
If headache becomes daily or associated with blurred vision.
If weight loss or severe abdominal pain occurs after meals.
Every patientâs migraine and gastric pattern differ. For long term control, it is important to coordinate both conditions together with one doctor so that the medicines for migraine do not worsen acidity.
