What effect does it have on a male child when their mother twice says she wishes she had aborted them? In addition to being divorced from the child's father she has said at various time she wish she could go back and she wouldn't have had married the child's father. The child would say "But, you would have had me." Then she would say "I would had you with someone else.The child would say, but that still wouldn't have been me, it would be a different soul.

Its very traumatic for a child to hear all these from his mother. He must be feeling dejected which can in turn can lead to resentments. Resentments always holds one backward and can give rise to pathological behaviour in later life.
If the individual is just 17 years old than we can work on these issues with him so that his future life can be smooth. Start taking sessions from a clinical psychologist.
