Thank you for your question. I can understand your confusion. A lot of women find their cycle changes after they have had a baby. Changes in the size of the uterus, effects of hormones on the ovary and hormonal changes caused by breast feeding plus the stress of bringing up a baby can upset the fine balance of the menstrual cycle. You may find that as your life gradually becomes more predictable and routine the periods will sort themselves out. If it is more than six months since your delivery and if you are not breast feeding you may consult your gynaecologist and try the combined pill for 3 months. If you like it you can continue with it for contraception. if not you can stop after three months. This usually triggers the cycle to return to normal. Please discuss this with your gynaecologist who can help better best wishes
