A regular cycle with a much shorter or lighter bleed usually means ovulation is still happening but the lining is building up less than before. Thyroid imbalance, low iron or vitamin D, significant weight change, high stress, heavy exercise and recent hormonal contraception are the common reasons. Less often it reflects the lining itself, for example after a uterine procedure, or reduced ovarian reserve if there are other symptoms. Since the timing has stayed regular, a lining or hormone cause is more likely than a structural one.
Next Steps
See a gynaecologist and ask for a basic panel including haemoglobin, thyroid function and vitamin D, along with a pelvic ultrasound to look at the lining thickness.
Health Tips
If a light period is combined with difficulty conceiving, or the flow keeps reducing month after month, please have it evaluated sooner rather than watching it.
