Medicine for augmentation
Hi... I want to know that as augmentation for ocd which of the two medications I can go with. 1.. Ris ls, which is currently using from last four months, but no any major improvement. 2..aripiprazole , which is yet to be used as recommended by my psychiatrist. I'm bothering whether after using arip my symptoms won't again come back, so bit reluctant to take arip. Thanks

Hi, I understand your dilemma. It's very tricky and there is no straight forward answer for your dilemma. Saying so, normally risperidone is tried as augmentation for OCD, if it doesn't work, then we should try other things. Problem with OCD, it's not cured, rather can be managed well and can lead a happy life. Combination of medication + psychotherapy (ERP, CBT, flooding, counselling, talk therapy, relaxation therapy etc)  may works wonders for any kind psychological disorders. Yes, you can try Arip with positive intention. If it works, good, if it doesn't then there are other options. Try medication + psychotherapy. It may work for you.

Both riz ls and arip can be used for augmentation, it depends upon patient to patient what suits you best, if risperidone has not respnded you can try arip
