Prolonged under-nutrition or malnourishment can affect many body systems, including the heart, nervous system, and metabolism. When the body does not receive enough calories and nutrients for several months, it may lead to symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, palpitations, weakness, and low energy levels. - After long periods of low food intake, it is important to gradually restore regular meals rather than continuing to restrict food, as the body needs energy and nutrients to recover. - Include complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, and healthy fats in meals to stabilize blood sugar levels and provide sustained energy throughout the day. - Add green leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, seeds, dairy, eggs, fish, or legumes to help replenish vitamins and minerals that may have become depleted. - Avoid long gaps between meals. Having small and frequent meals can improve digestion, maintain energy levels, and reduce symptoms like dizziness or weakness. - Adequate fluid intake, proper sleep, and gradual physical activity can help the body regain strength. Since you experienced prolonged starvation, your symptoms may be related to nutritional depletion and low energy reserves. Focus on consistent, balanced nutrition and consult a healthcare professional for proper evaluation and recovery guidance.

Yes, prolonged undernutrition for 7–8 months can definitely affect heart function — even if the 2D echo is normal. Starvation can lead to: • Low blood sugar episodes • Electrolyte imbalance (especially potassium, magnesium) • Anemia • B-vitamin deficiencies • Reduced muscle mass including cardiac muscle These can cause palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, tingling in hands, and rapid heartbeat — especially when meals are skipped. Since your echo is normal, the issue is likely functional and nutrition-related rather than structural heart disease. I strongly recommend: ✔ CBC (to rule out anemia) ✔ Electrolytes panel ✔ Vitamin B12, Vitamin DThyroid profile ✔ Blood sugar levels Most importantly, focus on gradual nutritional rehabilitation with balanced meals every 3–4 hours. Do not fast further.
Next Steps
If symptoms worsen (fainting, chest pain, persistent tachycardia), consult a physician immediately.

Yes, prolonged under-eating for 7–8 months can cause symptoms like palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, and tingling — even if your 2D echo is normal. Starvation can lead to: • Low blood sugar • Electrolyte imbalance • Anemia • Vitamin deficiencies These can make your heart race, especially when you haven’t eaten. Since your echo is normal, this is more likely functional and reversible rather than permanent heart damage. Next steps: Get blood tests (CBC, electrolytes, B12, iron, thyroid, glucose) and start small, frequent meals. Seek urgent care if you have severe chest pain, fainting, or persistent fast/irregular heartbeat.
