Lump in the left breast
Hi, recently an excision biopsy surgery has been done to my mother in which they removed that lump and send for test. In that test report they concluded that lump as "invasive duct carcinoma with an extensive insitu duct carcinoma component". And also they mentioned " resection margins are free of tumour and closest resection margin is 5mm away from tumour" in microscopy section. And they suggested "clinicoradiological and surgical correlation". So i want to know the present cancer stage, whether it is dangerous and treatment process. Also want to know how much safe those radiation and chemotherapy as i heard about side effects of those and whether she can tolerate to those process at this age? Is it good to use ayurvedic medicine along with chemotherapy and radiation? What are the chances of complete cure for this disease at this stage and what is the procedure? Please help us in clarifying above issues and suggest us best treatment process. Thanks

The information you have shared is sufficient to tell the diagnosis. You never not shared the information to provide you a clinical stage. It is better that you approach a surgical Oncologist with all details. She needs proper treatment planning.

Treatment for breast cancer include surgery as primary treatment and adjuvant Chemotherapy / radiation therapy / hormone therapy depending upon pathological features to complete the treatment. As lump wide excision has been done and it confirm negative margins. But still treatment is not complete. Axillary lymph nodes should also be addressed either by sentinel lymph node biopsy or axillary clearance. If you choose this as breast conservation surgery than radiation therapy is must. If you choose for completion mastectomy than requirement of radiation therapy depends upon pathological stage. Also you need to do ER/ PR/ her 2 neu / Ki 67 IHC testing on excised tissue. To decide regarding requirements for Chemotherapy you need to send me pathology report but most probably it will be required. Apart from.all this information 1st thing to do is to get atleast Xray chest and ultrasound abdomen, pelvis and LFT and to complete the surgery by addressing the axilla
