Hi ! As you already have briefed us the history, it is suggestive of a soft tissue injury and a probable bony component to it. The lump is basically the calcifying/healing hematoma(collection of blood) at the site of injury. please consult an orthopedic surgeon to rule out a bony injury. Rest in a Slab/Plaster for 4 weeks with continued movements and limb elevation under the cover of anti-inflammatory and analgesics is must for pain relief and regain of full function.
