What is probably going on is an immune response. The vaccines are designed you cause your child's immune system to respond as if the child had come into contact with the illness. This can sometimes cause flu like symptoms (not because the child is getting sick but because the immune system is responding). The redness and swelling at the site sound like an immune reaction similar to what you would see if a cut got infected. Keep the area clean and as long as the swelling goes down and her fever stays low don't worry too much about it
Next Steps
You probably do want to mention it to your pediatrician next time you go in just in case she wants to delay other immunizations or give only one at a time.
Health Tips
Hot compress locally would help.
