Low Sperm Quantity
I recently observed that with proper exercise and proper daily water intake - I have a the usual sperm thickness and color. However on days when I'm smoking cigarettes, no exercise, low water intake the color changes to slightly off-white or say very light yellowish. In general, this makes sense. However I've been consuming 1mg finasteride for the last 3 years - and I've had no issues with my performance but I see low quantity of the ejaculation. Sometimes it can be watery - but when I have proper or elongated stimulation I get the regular thick ejaculation. All in all I'm a little stressed about pregnancy now. 1- Will the quantity affect our chances of getting pregnant? 2- Should I stop Finastride and the quantity may go back? Or in general it has any affects on pregnancy? My wife doesn't touch the tablets. 3- Does Varicocele on left side is causing this issue on the sperm quantity? I've had it since I was 20-21yr old - maybe even younger just not sure about the age.

Pregnancy depends more on sperm count, motility, and morphology rather than semen volume alone. Normal semen volume ranges between 1.5–6 ml, and even a relatively low volume can result in pregnancy if sperm quality is adequate. Varicocele can affect fertility in some individuals, but it does not always cause problems. When it does, it usually impacts sperm quality more than quantity. Without proper clinical assessment and investigations, starting any medication is not advised.
