Low platelets count with normal wbc and

Question

Asked for Female, 62 Years

My mom age 62 do not have any fever or other symptoms...she was tested for ns1ag dengue 8 days ago but repeat test showed negative result. Platelet count has rapidly gone down to 44k. Doc is giving her steroids 30mg and count has now gone up to 87k. I would like to know if bone marrow disfunctions..only platelets get impacted?? RBC and wbc are normal
