Hi my son was born on 13th June 23, his blood test show low platelet count(47k) so he was treated with ivig as the doctors predicted there might be some antibodies after the first dose it increased to 60k then again decreased In a week, so we did another dose of ivig again same thing happened count raised to 81k and again reduced, again we took a third dose after a week now no test for antibodies were taken after we asked the hsptl many times they took the report and antibodies came negative we asked a hematologist he said there seems to be no issue in blood getting created otherwise there might be a drop in blood count too now they ask us to wait for 4 more weeks, what to do now should I take him to some other hsptls is there any other tests which we can take to tell us why the count is not increasing

Sorry to hear about the trouble your little one has had.
There are various causes for low platelets and looks like the doctors have tried to increase the counts without trying to address the causes of low platelets in the first place.
Hope he was well at birth and infection/sepsis can cause low platelets, those usually recover.
We’re mothers platelet counts at the time of birth?
There is a condition called NAIT which can cause lingering low platelets in newborns, that can be ruled in or ruled out by a trained Neonataologist/ Paediatric Haematologist.
Sometimes if the baby was really small at birth, the neonatologist can test for maternal infections ( tOrCh) infections which have other subtle features apart from Low platelets.
In summary- seen review for a good Paediatrci Haematologist.
