Low Hemoglobin in Pregnancy
Respected Doctors, My wife is currently 30 weeks pregnant. Her HB level is 9.9 as per the latest report. Throughout the pregnancy, her Hb levels have ranged between 9.5 and 11. Prior to pregnancy, her Hb levels were consistently between 10.5 and 11.5. We had been consulting doctors in the UAE but recently moved to India to plan for delivery. Her current daily iron intake is as follows: Morning (empty stomach): 30 mg elemental iron tablet Breakfast + Mother Horlicks Lunch+ Pregnacare multivitamin tablet(17mg iron) Evening: Ferradol syrup with milk Dinner + Mother Horlicks Night (1 hour after dinner): 30 mg elemental iron tablet In total, she consumes approximately 60 mg elemental iron daily + 17 mg iron from Pregnacare, along with dietary iron. We recently added the nighttime iron tablet due to the low Hb level after consultation. Kindly confirm if this iron intake is appropriate considering her current Hb levels, or if this dosage is excessive. Thank you for your guidance
