Low blood count in 9th month pregnancy
Hello, my wife is pregnant with 9th month and her blood count is 8.6 which is low. One of the gynecologist suggested to take injection to increase the blood count. Please advise if it's safe to take injection during 9th month pregnancy and her delivery is scheduled in the next month.

8.6 near full term is low. If you are already taking Iron it’s not being absorbed. Giving Iron injection is safe, with monitoring. The desired level of Hb at term is 11 gm . Increase of 2.4 gm in one month is only possible with Iron injection.
Next Steps
Test serum ferritin, TIBC , seem Iron, TSH. Test to rule out B thalassemia minor
