Liver cirrhosis and enlarged spleen
Hi Doctor, My mother in law is suffering from liver cirrhosis for a few years. Currently her spleen is enlarged, platelets count is 70k and her bilirubin is high. Please let me know how to proceed with her treatment further. Would you be able to advise us, then we will meet you at your clinic with her detailed reports. Thanks.

Cirrohis cannot be reversed . Liver transplantation is the only chance of cure, but not without risk. She might need splenectomy if all her blood counts are very low which will improve her cirrhosis and counts . She needs endoscopy to rule out varices as she has high chance blood vomiting. She also needs to be evaluated for the cause of cirrhosis .. like hepatitis virus
Next Steps
investigations and evaluation
Health Tips
fluid restriction
