I had a dislocation of my right hand little finger at the PIP joint (middle knuckle). I underwent surgery where a K-wire (metal rod) was inserted to fix the bones in place.
The rod was removed 4 months ago and I have attached two X-rays for your reference:
📷 Photo 1 - X-ray taken at the time of surgery (Left hand view, rod visible inside finger)
📷 Photo 2 - X-ray taken today, 4 months after rod removal (Right hand view)
My concerns are:
Comparing both X-rays, the finger joint does not appear to have improved much — the gap at the PIP joint looks similar in both X-rays
The joint does not appear to be in perfect alignment even during surgery with the rod inserted
During physiotherapy/bending exercises I experience mild to moderate pain
I am worried whether the bones have healed correctly or if further treatment is needed
My questions:
Has the finger healed in correct position?
Is the joint gap seen in X-ray normal or concerning?
Is the pain during physiotherapy expected at this stage?
