Lifting weights and blood pressure
Doesn't lifting weights constrict blood vesels which in turn increases blood pressure? Is this why ayurveda is against lifting weights for those who have hypertension? Can those with vata pitta prakriti lift weights?

Hello Mr., Your question contains half truth. There are multiple concepts merged in your question and here is the nearest response to it. 1. Yes. Weight lifting increases blood pressure to extremes when proper warm up and cool down isn't followed. 2. Yes. Weight lifting is better to be avoided for people having high blood pressure. 3. People with vata-pitta prakriti are benefitted by grounding exercises like yogasana, meditation and pranayama. They can also include cardio and strength training twice weekly. Always better to combine both for best results.
