Acute fatty liver in pregnancy (AFLP) is of course a serious issue as it is life threatening for mother and baby because of liver failure. However in such cases, the woman becomes acutely ill within very short period of time, along with loss of consciousness, high BP and bleeding with low blood sugar. More commonly such LFT report is associated with obstetric cholestasis (OC), which is more common than AFLP (which is rare). OC can cause impaired growth of the baby and may need early delivery but OC is cured after delivery. OC is not serious but can cause internse itching
