Lasers are an excellent fast, painless, hygienic & comfortable method to reduce hair over the female bikini region. It also helps treat bumps, ingrown hair and folliculitis that often occur from shaving and waxing. Temporary redness is normal and subside in an hour or two. Side effects do not occur with the correct technique & energy selection.
Next Steps
1. Consult a doctor who routinely offers laser hair reduction. Ask questions during consult. 2. Check that the device used has medical certification such as US FDA or CE approval. 3. Ensure the treatment is done by an experienced therapist in the presence of a doctor. 4. Follow the prescribed dos & donts.
Health Tips
Some background. Hope this helps: 1. A laser is just a highly focused beam of light. There are many kinds of lasers and many used for them - from delicate eye surgery to cutting sheets of metal. Medical lasers used for hair reduction are designed to focus selectively on the skin & hair follicles therein and undergo rigorous testing before being approved for use - such as by US FDA. 2. When the skin is treated at the appropriate settings for skin type and hair type, by a trained certified doctor or therapist, lasers are extremely safe and effective. Like any other treatment complications can occur due to improper technique or poor patient selection. 3. Lasers also do not impact your reproductive organs. The depth of laser penentration is only upto the dermis, while female reproductive structures lie deep in the abdomen far removed from its effect. The reproductive organs in men are located externally and may be exposed to heat from laser treatments. Thus this area is not advisable for treatment in men.
