My tonsils are very swollen. They have always been a bit big but never a problem. I had tonsillitis a month ago and they are still swollen and have white spots on them. For the past two weeks I've had trouble swallowing. It doesn't hurt at all, but the food gets stuck at the back of my throat and I have to swallow about five times to get one bite down. They are becoming very bothersome and I was wondering if I should have them removed?

Try betadine gargles for a couple of weeks. If they are still troubling you, consult with your ent surgeon. Taking out of the tonsils is easy, but there should be a " correct indication" to remove them.
